In this video, I highlight five essential skills that leaders and high-performing managers must develop in the AI Era to succeed in the future. I present a perspective that goes beyond the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs 2025 report.
While the Forum emphasises skills such as analytical thinking, resilience, flexibility, agility, leadership, social influence, creative thinking, motivation, and self-awareness, several additional capabilities are even more critical.
Foremost among these is entrepreneurial thinking, which drives ambitious, exponential growth. Equally vital is creativity as a cultural practice, fostering innovation and rapid iteration for effective problem-solving. Leaders must also master decision-making under pressure, maintaining clarity in the face of uncertainty.
In addition, resilience, built on emotional regulation and cognitive fitness, is fundamental to long-term performance. Finally, strategic focus and disciplined execution, underpinned by workload mastery and time intelligence, will be indispensable for navigating future challenges and ensuring organisational survival.
